Gloucester Artist Network and
The Gloucester Art Trail

Welcome to the Gloucester Art Trail.

The Gloucester Art Trail Organisation (GATO) was set up to establish an annual visual arts festival in Gloucester UK.
We have been running a programme of events throughout 2008 and we have now joined forces with fellow members of Gloucester Artist Network (GANet) to launch 'The Joined Up Art Festival' in May 2009. We hope this early venture will lead to the establishment of an annual event.
We believe that Gloucester and it's citizens will enjoy and benefit from the festival and we are sure that visitors to our city will too. To find out more about 'Joined Up Art', please see the events and exhibitions page.

• Efforts to forge and establish further links and partnerships with arts and community groups, educational establishments and businesses are on-going.
• It is hoped GATO/GANet can expand communication with SVA for future projects.
• Nathalie Vin, who is the artist responsible for projections onto Buckingham Palace and the Brighton Pavilion, also runs mosaic workshops. She is keen to work with the Gloucester Art Trail on future projects.
• Pralay Lal is aiming to fund a touring exhibition to Gloucester in the future, as part of the Gloucester Art Trail Org.
• GATO/GANet is actively seeking to maintain and establish further contact with artists and art groups in Gloucester’s ‘Twin Towns’: Gouda, St Ann’s, Metz and Trier (and has volunteer translators of French and German working on its behalf). GATO/GANet has already established ongoing communication with Gouda artists and we have made good contacts in St Ann and Trier. Our first joint project,'Here and There/Hier en Daar'; a virtual exhibition of artist's work, was shown at the City Museum in summer 2007 and we hope to expand on this early success.
• Ongoing plans include mosaic workshops within the community to create public art by way of a mosaic trail in Barton St. We started a feasibility study for this project at the end of 2007 and hope to hold the first mosaic workshop at The Friendship Cafe in 2008. We failed in our funding bid for this project but we are determined to proceed with it in the future if at all possible.
• As Gloucester is undergoing huge changes under the regeneration project, we have found it very difficult to secure some key venues for 2009. We will however continue to organise exhibitions and events in collaboration with our other partners. Our main concentration will be on getting the 'Joined Up Art' festival up and securing funding for the Mosaic Trail in Barton St; an inner city area that is not part of the 'Magnificent Seven' regeneration plans. We are also developing several project ideas with Gloucester City Museum and Art Gallery.
